The Boy Who Didn't Want Moms


We were having a rough day, this boy and I.

I was so upset with him that I rolled down the windows for a rapid breeze and extra oxygen. He was so upset with me that he was sulking in the back seat, thumb in mouth.

After pulling into our spot in the driveway and killing the engine, Nolan disengaged his thumb just long enough to calmly, thoughtfully say, "When I am Dada's age, I will live in my own house with no moms." With an emphasis on no.

And then the thumb re-entered the portal.
