Here you will observe our first two homegrown eggs. Our Golden Comet, the lovely Tweety, has emerged triumphant in the race to maturity. I'd say we didn't do much to achieve egg laying success, but requirements for maintaining twelve hens have turned out to be far beyond our expectations. And now, with the approach of winter, we're beginning to worry about things like wind protection, frozen chicken feet, insulating the coop, keeping water thawed, and the possibility of retaining egg production at least in some small amount during the colder months. We recently discovered through a friend at church that we could get twice the amount of feed for the same price we normally pay if we buy from some nearby Amish. This is very good news. The best news, of course, is that they are starting to lay. A step forward in home production. Sweet satisfaction.
