On the Lake

There is this place. It is my favorite place on Earth and it's very close to my home. I take my kids there to play in the waves and comb the beach for neat rocks, sea glass, and fossils. We go there in the evenings to watch the sun set over the West hill and enjoy the twinkling light reflected across the water. Even on the hottest days, it's more populated by seagulls than people.  The playgrounds are fun, the sycamores loom large and smooth, and the breeze is always welcome.

It's called Lodi Point. It's just a spot where the land juts out into Seneca Lake, lined with pebble beach and large willows, maples, and sycamores, lapping with waves, sparkling with sunshine. It's so beautiful and peaceful. It's our summertime retreat. And it's one of the things that makes me want to stay at this house for my whole life... even if we are outgrowing it.
